Your Vision Statement Print this page Email this page

A Vision Statement is a declaration of why your business or organization is in existence and should reflect core-values and passion in a broad industry or societal context. It's the meaning of life for an organization.

A successful vision statement is the cornerstone upon which all other aspects of an organization must comply. If a function of your business can not justify its existence in terms of upholding your vision statement, it should be eliminated.

Vision and value statements can be brief or detailed. The length is not as important as their ability to resonate emotionally with stakeholders.

Here are two great examples:

  • Coca Cola. Excellent example of a concise vision and values statement.
  • Whole Foods. An entire treatise expounding on their purpose and philosophy.
